Money Managers Research Methodology:
The Dallas Business Journal has published a money management firms list ranked on total assets under management gathered from the most recent Form ADV filing with the SEC. All firms considered professional investment advisers by the SEC must file Form ADV. That is a broad term that encompasses anyone advising on securities, which can range from money managers to financial planners to private equity firms to energy investors. Only offices with a primary address in the Metroplex’s four core counties of Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant were included. DBJ plans to run a separate list later this year of wealth management firms ranked by total local assets. Additional info on top executives was gleaned from company websites and LinkedIn. Some firms filed under the SEC were no longer operating or temporarily closed which were excluded from the ranking. View the full listing online.
