Beaird Harris is seeking an experienced full-cycle bookkeeper to join our Accounting Services Team (“AST”) as an Accounting Services Specialist II to fulfill a broad range of accounting responsibilities in a collaborative team environment. Under direction, this position is  responsible for overseeing  accounting services functions, including Financial Statement Preparation, Payroll Tax Reporting, Budget Development, Statement Reconciliation, Debt Management, Bookkeeping, QuickBooks Consulting and Setup of Computer Software, and reviewing the work of other team members. This position will report to the Accounting Services Senior Manager.

Qualifications

Candidates must embrace technology and be able to work independently within a group environment. Must have the ability to interact with and gain the respect of colleagues and clients. Challenges involve cleaning up historical financial records through discovery and proposed solutions, all while tracking one’s time by client.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of public accounting experience, including review experience.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks required; QuickBooks Pro Advisor is a plus.
  • Full understanding of accounting standards and tax concepts.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Lacerte tax software a plus.

Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Accounting Services Specialist II is responsible for entering, reconciling, and maintaining the financial records for a variety of clients. Tasks include recording journal entries, reconciling bank accounts, producing financial reports and assisting with payroll and filing payroll reports. QuickBooks (both desktop and online) are used heavily in addition to other client and practice management software. The position is client-interfacing and good multi-tasking skills are a must. Office environment is primarily paperless with daily use of Microsoft’s suite of applications.

  • Input of client data.
  • Preparation of payroll reports – quarterly and annual reports, federal and state.
  • Financial statement preparation.
  • After-the-fact review and correction of work.
  • Interface with clients on QuickBooks and payroll questions.
  • Assist with updating asset/depreciation schedules.
  • Assist with preparation of work papers and journal entries for clients.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of business operations and accounting systems.
  • Keep supervisors apprised of assignments and scheduling issues on a timely basis.
  • Assume responsibility for assigned engagements.
  • Work closely with staff to identify and resolve issues encountered in performance.
  • Maintain professionalism in client and team interactions.
  • Develop effective, clear work paper techniques.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude for deadline considerations and strive for adherence.
  • Work with manager to develop an appropriate plan of professional development.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Perform overtime work as needed January-March and October.
